<p>The present invention relates to a digitally recording and reproducing apparatus and method characterized by an operation comprising the steps of: (1) receiving an input signal, (2) allotting the input signal to sync blocks or the like for recording the data into the VCR, (3) in order to protect important information such as packet headers contained in the input signal, recording sync blocks containing important information as a whole or only the important portions such as packet headers, into previously reserved areas for spare data, and (4) when the important data presents any error and the error cannot be corrected, substituting the whole sync block having erroneous data by the corresponding sync block recorded as spare data or substituting the erroneous data itself by the corresponding important portion. <IMAGE></p> |
