Television set comprising loudspeakers and a decoder for surround-sound audio signals

The television set comprises a decoder for decoding Dolby Pro-Logic signals or other surround signals as Dolby AC-3 or MPEC 2 and loudspeakers for reproduction of the surround channel which are integrated on the left and on the right in the housing of the television set. They radiate approximately at an angle of 90 DEG with respect to the viewer. This arrangement is based on tests which have shown that the position of the surround-sound loudspeakers is not very relevant as long as they do not radiate directly towards the viewer, and achieve a surprisingly three-dimensional effect with the specified arrangement as well. <IMAGE>
