The seat has a locking device (16), which is coupled to securing equipment for the backrest. The locking device only releases the connection between the rear feet (2) of the seat and the floor structure, if the backrest is in its forward folded position. When in the forward folded position, the backrest is secured safely against swinging back into its seating position. The backrest is not released again, until the rear feet are connected to the floor structure of the vehicle by means of the locking device.
