USE OF SURFACE ACTIVE STRUCTURAL COPOLYMER AS DISPERSANT AND/OR GRINDING ASSISTANT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous suspension of an inorganic material which is easy to handle regardless of the surface property of the inorganic material by using a copolymer which is made up of an ethylene unsaturated monomer with carboxylic acid group, sulfonic acid group or phosphoric acid group and an ethylene unsaturated monomer without carboxylic acid group and one kind of oxyalkylated surfactant monomer as a dispersant/grinding assistant. SOLUTION: An aqueous suspension is obtained by using a copolymer made up of an ethylene unsaturated monomer with carboxylic acid group, sulfonic acid group or phosphoric acid group, an ethylene unsaturated monomer without carboxylic acid group and one kind of alkoxylated monomer with a hydrophobic group at the terminal represented by formula ((m) and (p) are each a number of alkyleneoxide units and are 100 or less; (n) is a number of ethyleneoxide units and is 100 or less; (q) is a numeral of 1 or larger representing the number 0<=q(n+m+p)<=100; R1, R2 are each hydrogen, methyl group or ethyl group; R is a polymeric unsaturated group belonging to the group of ester acrylates or the like and so forth; and R' is a certain kind of hydrophobic group when R indicates an unsaturated group or a polymeric unsaturated group).
