PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject therapeutic agent having high safety, useful as a preventive and a therapeutic agent for diseases caused by leishmania protozoan, such as leishmaniasis, by using a specific glucopyranose derivative as an active ingredient. SOLUTION: 2-Deoxy-2-[(3S)-(9-phenylnonanoyloxy)tetradecanoyl]amino-3-O-(9- phenylnonanoyl)-4-O-sulfo-α-O-glucopyranose of the formula (Ph is phenyl) or its nontoxic salt as an active ingredient is mixed with a diluent (e.g. ethanol), and, if necessary, a wetting agent, a suspension, a sweetener, a flavoring agent, an aroma, an antiseptic, etc., and pharmaceutically prepared to give the objective therapeutic agent for leishmaniasis effective for preventing and/or treating diseases caused by leishmania protozoan, such as leishmaniasis, having high safety.
