PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a piezoelectric ceramic having a practical Curie temperature and further a high electromechanical coupling factor by specifying the ratio of the respective components of a piezoelectric porcelain of a solid solution composition composed of three components of Pb(Mg1/3 Na2/3 )O3 , lead zirconate titanate and strontium zirconate titanate and regulating the SiO2 impurity content to a specific value or below. SOLUTION: This piezoelectric ceramic is the one of a solid solution composition represented by the three components of xPb(Mg1/3 Nb2/3 )O3 -yPb(Zr1-a Tia )O3 - zSr-(Zr1-a Tia )O3 - 0.43<=(a)<=0.58; [(x)-+(y)+(z)] is 1.00} and the ratios of the respective components (x), (y), and (z) are within the compositional range surrounded by compositional points A (0.05, 0.93, 0.02), B (0.05, 0.81, 0.14), C (0.15, 0.71, 0.14), D(0.37, 0.56, 0.07) and E (0.37, 0.61 and 0.02). The content of SiO2 impurities is <=0.08 wt.%. The Curie temperature of the piezoelectric porcelain is >=150 deg.C. |
