PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operatively simple and inexpensive method for optically resolving (RS)-2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid, and to provide optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid.amine acids useful as intermediates for producing optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid. SOLUTION: This method for producing optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3- phenylpropionic acid comprises optically resolving (RS)-2-hydroxymethyl-3- phenylpropionic acid with optically active cis-1-amino-2-indazole, optically activeα-methylbenzylamine or optically active 3-methyl-2-phenyl-1-butylamine. New substances: optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid.cis-1-amino-2- indanol salt, optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid.α- methylbenzylamine salt, and optically active 2-hydroxymethyl-3-phenylpropionic acid.3-methyl-2-phenyl-1-butylamine salt. |
