PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject composition high in thermal stability and resis tance to hydrolysis by including a specific aromatic polycarbonate resin and a phosphorous diester in a specific amount based on the impurity metals in the above resin. SOLUTION: This composition is obtained by including (A) an aromatic polycarbonate resin containing hydroxyl group at >=5% based on the total terminal groups, prepared, pref. by melt polymerization reaction between (1) an aromatic dihydroxy compound (e.g. bisphenol A) and (2) a carbonic diester, and (B) a phosphorous diester (e.g. diphenyl hydrogenphosphite) at 1-1,000 mol per mol of the impurity metals contained in the component A. In the above melt polymerization reaction, it is preferable that an alkali (alkaline earth) metal compound is used as catalyst at 1×10<-8> to 1×10<-4> mol per mol of the component A1, and also a basic compound at 1×10<-6> to 1×10<-1> mol per mol of the component A1.
