The material used for the prosthesis can be a metal, especially titanium, or an alloy with a shape memory effect, such as a titanium-nickel alloy containing 54.8 - 55.6 wt.% nickel and having a martensitic structure at body temperature. The prosthesis is made by rolling a metal plate with a curved end about its lengthwise axis.
