Road vehicle or trailer for transporting another road vehicle

The trailer (1) has a chassis (4) with a structure (5) or sub-chassis mounted to pivot on the chassis about a horizontal axis. A platform (6) is mounted to slide on the pivoting structure. A flexible filiform element is affixed to the platform by its two ends. A rotating drive mechanism is provided to operate a wheel which drives the filiform element and hence make the platform slide w.r.t the pivoting structure.
