Destruction of pests in e.g. buildings by fumigation with hydrogen cyanide

A method of destroying pests in e.g. buildings or stores, comprises fumigation with HCN generated as required by hydrolysis of cyanides with water or acid and driven out of the hydrolysis solution with CO2. The process for fumigating e.g. large buildings with HCN comprises contacting cyanide compounds in a reactor with CO2, water or acidified water and driving the HCN formed out of the reaction solution with CO2 or other propellant and transporting it into the space to be fumigated.
