The novel side auxiliary platform support provides a surface for standing or walking on at the side of a simple ladder erected against a support or a freestanding extendible multipurpose double ladder. The support can be folded out and folded away and has rails which can also be folded away. The invention also prevents the ladder from tipping or slipping in the case of a simple ladder or rocking in the case of an extended double ladder. The support is configured in such a way that the side auxiliary platform can be completely folded out and folded away on the side of a ladder on which it is mounted. Wall running rollers are also provided on the front surfaces of the side auxiliary platform in order to make it easier to push an extendible simple ladder on which the side auxiliary platform is mounted up a wall. Integrated wall supports prevent a simple ladder from canting when the side auxiliary platform is folded out.
