The invention relates to a method for determining light conditions in front of a moving object, in particular a motor vehicle. A sensor unit scans the area (20) in front of the vehicle in the direction of movement. On the basis of the values provided by the sensor unit, an evaluation unit determines the light conditions both in general and in front of the vehicle in the direction of movement. Light measurement is carried out using a flat image sensor. By means of a sectoral and/or general evaluation of the light values measured by the video sensor in corresponding sections (7, 71, 72, 73) between the sides (4,5) of a lane (3), one or more logical values about the light conditions are generated, for example before entry into a tunnel (6). |
