RESIN COMPOSITION FOR POWDER COATING

A powder coating resin composition comprising a vinyl copolymer (A) bearing both a specific silyl group and a glycidyl group in the molecule and/or a resin composition (D) comprising a vinyl copolymer (B) bearing a specific silyl group and a vinyl copolymer (C) bearing a glycidyl group, and an aliphatic dibasic acid (E) as the essential components, wherein the component (A) or (B) contains the specific silyl group as the main crosslinking group, the component (A), (B) or (C) has a glass transition temperature of 40 to 100 DEG C and a number-average molecular weight of 2000 to 20000, and the component (A) and/or (D) accounts for at least 20 % of the total amount of the crosslinkable polymers. The resin composition overcomes the disadvantages of conventional ester resins or epoxy resins of acid-epoxy crosslink type, and provides a powder coating material of a new crosslink type which can give a coating film having not only excellent weathering resistance but also such mechanical characteristics that could not be realized by the acrylic resins of the prior art, is freed from environmental problems and can be prepared at a low cost.
