Method for directing gunfire

Laser beams (24,26) are aimed at a target (21). Spaced detectors (22,23) receive the reflected beams (25,27). Turbulence (28) moving across the line of sight due to a cross wind produces an image in one detector and, after a delay, in the other detector. The wind speed is calculated from the delay and the distance between the detectors. The firing characteristics are used to calculate and compensate for the vertical and horizontal deflection. An Independent claim is included for a device to perform the method.
