<p>A distributed, object oriented environment event distributor for distributing events to subscribers includes a representative item queue storing representative items corresponding to subscribers. The representative items provide subscriber information (e.g., a function to reach a corresponding subscriber). The event distributor distributes events to any number of subscribers based on corresponding representative items on the representative item queue. An iterative approach may use a next indicator to access, in a sequence, each of multiple representative items on a queue corresponding to multiple corresponding subscribers. The event distributor may distribute the event to a sub-event distributor that then distriubtes the event to subscribers. Distributed event distribution arrangements may provide different functionality - and subscribers can be moved from one event distributor to another by moving their corresponding representative items.</p> |
