METHOD FOR SELECTING FONTS FOR CREATING PRINTED PRODUCTS

The invention relates to a method for creating a printed product using a computer and a selection program stored in the computer. In this method, the fonts are stored in digitalized form in a data medium which can be read by the computer. Each font is assigned at least one table in which a plurality of characteristics are entered as search keys. The table or tables are stored together with the font in the data medium. The computer keyboard is used to enter the characteristics for the print job, regarding the font which is to be selected for the print job. The tables of all the fonts stored in the data medium are checked for consistency with the entered characteristics. The selection programme in the computer establishes a list of fonts, using the characteristics stored in the tables and the entered characteristics. The fonts for which the entered characteristics matched the characteristics stored in the tables are entered into this list. The fonts in the list are sorted in accordance with the number of consistencies. One of the fonts is then selected from the list and used for creating the desired printing product.
