Locking mechanism for motor vehicle engine bonnet and/or rear hatch

A vehicle which is equipped with a motor hood forming part of the bodywork and a rear hatch has a locking mechanism holding each panel closed. The locking mechanism consists of two sets of spring-loaded pins held within a suitable fixture within the adjacent bodywork. The two spring pins advance from their recess into matching locking recesses within the respective hood or hatch door. The pins are linked to a central bell crank by e.g. rods, in turn linked to a driver-operated central opening lever.
