An automotive structure supports non-steered non-powered wheels and has a brake drum (14), a wheel hub (9), roller bearings (8, 10), an axle pin (5) and a mounting plate (1) for the chassis-mounted components forming part of the brake drum including brake shoes (3), related fixtures, brake cylinder (6) and brake piston. The mounting plate (1) is fabricated in a single piece by casting or forging with a one-piece end-stop (2) for the brake shoes (3) operating in a circumferential direction. The plate (1) and other components are protected by a thin sheet metal panel (4).
