The present invention relates to an apparatus which is used for diagnosing and normalising the functional condition of the organism by applying an electric current to the brain and through the cranium using contact electrodes. The apparatus of the present invention essentially comprises the following members: a control unit (2); a power supply unit (3); a galvanic isolation unit (4); a digital-analog converter and a first analog-digital converter (5, 6); a protection unit (8); a switch (11); electrodes (12); a master oscillator (7); a unit for measuring predetermined intensities and frequencies (9); a unit for measuring the excitation intensities, frequencies and resistances (10); and a logic unit (13). This apparatus further includes the following members: a matching unit (1); active electrodes (14); a reference electrode (15); a five-channel amplifier (16); a second analog-digital converter (17); and a mathematical processing unit (18).
