Sensor for detecting tire condition in motor vehicle

The sensor measures the separation (a,a') between the inner wall of the tire tread, and the rim (FG), at one or more points within the internal space defined by the tire and rim. The variation in this separation is detected during running of the tire and used to determine the spring deflection (f) of the tire. The variation in separation may be measured with respect to wheel rotation angle or time.
