The presentation system comprises vertical carrying wall and shelves (3, 4, 5). Each shelf arranged one above the other, is allocated an own holding element (1), to which is allocated its own fixing facility. The holding element (1) has a section (10) arranged at a distance above the shelf, at which an illumination unit (9) is fitted using a rod mounting unit (25). Each holding element (1) is provided with electrical conducting facilities (26) for the allocated illuminating units (9). An electric plug connector is provided between two adjacent holding elements (1), which connects the electrical conducting facilities of the two holding elements, electrically conducting with each other. The holding elements are designed as square boards and are arranged with edges lying against each other.
