Semifinished flax material

To produce semifinished materials from flax, the flax is pressed directly after harvesting so that the wood portion of the stems is retained with the fiber filaments bonded to it. The flax stems are shortly dried, and taken for further processing. In an Independent claim the harvested flax (2) is passed through a number of paired rollers (8). On squeezing, the flax stems (4) break longitudinally into straw. The machine has a drying station. Preferred Features:- The flax stems (4) are dried for less than three days. The dried stems are laid as a web or layer, in a semifinished product material, to be processed together with random or aligned flax straw. Organic or inorganic filaments can be added to the material. The working stages are in direct succession in the machine, or the material is stored between the stages.
