A lens-carrying film unit having a protective cover, comprising a protective cover (13) for a photographing lens, which is provided at a front side of a lens-carrying film unit and interlocked with a shutter lock mechanism adapted to lock a shutter button (4) when the protective cover is moved to a closing position at the front side of the photographing lens, and which is also interlocked with a flash prevention mechanism adapted to turn off a flash charging switch (6) when the protective cover is moved to the closing position, prevent the flash charging switch from being moved to an ON position while the protective cover is in the closing position, and enable the flash charging switch to be moved to the ON position when the protective cover is moved back from the photographing lens, the protective cover being adapted to slide horizontally in a front region, which extends linearly in a horizontal direction, of the film unit and having a longitudinal length which does not prevent the opening and closing of a bottom cover (12) provided for taking out an exposed photographic film, a first label pasted on a front surface of the protective cover and a second label wound around the film unit keeping out of the front region in which the protective cover is slid enclosing and dustproofing the film unit and reinforcing a unit housing.
