Production of thermoplastic copolycarbonates useful for moldings resistant to chemicals

N-(2-12 carbon alkyl)-piperidines or morpholines are used as catalysts in the production of thermoplastic copolycarbonates from a mixture consisting of 0.1-35 mol.% optionally alkyl-substituted 4,4-dihydroxydiphenyl and 99.9-65 mol.% bridged diphenols by the conventional process in the melt. The production of thermoplastic copolycarbonates from a mixture consisting of 0.1-35 mol.% 4,4-dihydroxydiphenyls of formula (I) and complementary amounts, i.e. 99.9-65 mol.% other diphenols of formula (II) is carried by a conventional process in the melt, using N-alkyl-substituted piperidines or morpholines with 2-12 C alkyl groups as catalyst, in amounts of 10<-2> to 10<-8> mol/mol diphenol: R1-R8 = hydrogen (H) or 1-3 C alkyl; R1-R12 = H, methyl, chlorine or bromine; X = 1-5 C alkylene, 2-5 C alkylidene, 5-6 C cycloalkylene, 5-10 C cycloalkylidene, carbonyl (-C(O)-), sulfur (-S-) or oxygen (-O-).
