A spotlight source device which comprises a discharge lamp (2) for radiating light, a cold mirror (4) having an opening and for reflecting light radiated from the discharge lamp, a reflector (10) disposed on a side of the opening of the cold mirror and for reflecting light reflected from the cold mirror, a shielding drum (6) having a light outgoing port (8) which permits light reflected from the reflector to emit, a stepping motor (14) for drivingly rotating the reflector and the shielding drum about an optical axis of the discharge lamp, rotating angle detecting means (18, 20) for detecting rotating angles of the reflector and the shielding drum, and control means (40, 46) for controlling rotary driving of the reflector and the shielding drum (6) by the stepping motor (14) on the basis of rotating angles detected by the rotating angle detecting means. Light reflected from the reflector is selectively applied to either of a plurality of radiation ports through the light outgoing port of the shielding drum.
