Use of indanones and coupler for dyeing keratinous fibers, especially human hair

Indanones are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of compound(s) selected from amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, aminoacids, oligopeptides and aromatic hydroxyl compounds, and/or methine (CH)-active compounds. (A) Indanones of formula (I) are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of (B) compound(s) containing primary or secondary amino groups or hydroxyl (OH) groups, selected from primary or secondary aliphatic or aromatic amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, alpha - to w-aminoacids, oligopeptides or 2-9 aminoacids and aromatic OH compounds, and/or methine (CH)-active compounds; R<1>, R<2> = H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C (hydroxy)alkoxy, hydroxyl (OH), nitro, carboxyl, sulfo, amino (optionally substituted by 1-4C alkyl) or 1-4C acyl; or R<1>R<2> = a condensed benzene ring; X = nitromethylene or isonitrosomethylene; Y = (m)ethylene; or one of X, Y = carbonyl. Independent claims are also included for (a) a color composition containing these compounds; and (b) a method of coloring using this type of composition.
