Use of N-pyridinium aldehydes or ketones and coupler for dyeing keratinous fibers, especially human hair

Onium aldehydes and ketones, comprising N-substituted pyridinium compounds, are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of compound(s) selected from amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, aminoacids, oligopeptides and aromatic hydroxyl compounds, and/or methine (CH)-active compounds. (A) Onium aldehydes and ketones, comprising N-substituted pyridinium compounds of formula (I), are used for coloring keratinous fibers in the presence of (B) compound(s) containing primary or secondary amino groups or hydroxyl (OH) groups, selected from primary or secondary aliphatic or aromatic amines, N-heterocyclic compounds, alpha - to w-aminoacids, oligopeptides or 2-9 aminoacids and aromatic OH compounds, and/or methine (CH)-active compounds; R<1> = H, 1-4C alkyl or (hetero)aryl; R<2>, R<3>, R<4> = H, halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C (hydroxy)alkoxy, hydroxyl (OH), nitro, aryl, trifluoromethyl, amino (optionally substituted by 1-4C alkyl) or 1-4C acyl; or 2 of R<2>, R<3>, R<4> = a condensed benzene ring; R<5> = 1-4C alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or heteroaryl; X = a direct bond or optionally substituted vinylene or phenylene group; Y<-> = halide, benzenesulfonate, p-toluenesulfonate, methanesulfonate, trifluoromethanesulfonate, perchlorate, sulfate, hydrogen sulfate, tetrachlorozincate or the N-oxide of the heterocycle. Independent claims are also included for (a) a color composition containing these compounds; and (b) a method of coloring using this type of composition.
