N-2-Mercapto-3-phenylpropionyl dipeptides of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1 = H or optionally substituted 1-8C alkyl, aryl(1-8C)alkyl, heteroaryl(1-8C)alkyl, aryl or heteroaryl; R2 = optionally substituted 2-thienylmethyl, 2-naphthylmethyl or N-Boc-3-indolylmethyl; and R3 = H or optionally substituted acyl.
