A granular or powdery diacetal composition comprising (a) at least one diacetal selected from among 1,3:2,4-O-dibenzylidene-D-sorbitol, nucleussubstituted derivatives thereof, and so on, and (b) at least one binder selected from the group consisting of neutral and weakly acidic monovalent organic acids; neutral and weakly acidic polyvalent organic acids; partial salts, sulfate ester salts, sulfonate salts, phosphate ester salts, phosphate esters and phosphite esters of neutral and weakly acidic polyvalent organic acids; and aluminum salts of neutral and weakly acidic monovalent organic acids, with the binder being uniformly distributed both on the surfaces of the particles of the composition and in the particles thereof; a process for the preparation of the composition; a nucleating agent for polyolefin resins containing the composition; and resin compositions comprising the nucleating agent and polyolefin resins and moldings made from the resin compositions.
