With the device as described, the present position of a vehicle is detected, the data related to the present position that is detected is compared with the data related to a road or to an intersection, and the passing volume through the road or through the intersection is changed and outputted depending upon the result of comparison. In searching a route from a point of departure of the vehicle or from near the present position of the vehicle to near the destination, furthermore, an intersection or a road of a large passing volume is found based upon the data of passage through the intersection or the road and is preferentially used as a route.
