Exhaust gas recirculation valve

An exhaust gas recycling valve has a solenoid control to vary the proportion of gas recycled and is bolted directly to the cylinder head via a fitting flange (3). The flange has inlet and outlet ducts to connect to the engine coolant cycle and a gas inlet duct (6). A second flange on the other side of the valve connects to the exhaust manifold, while a second outlet connects the recycled flow to the inlet manifold. The coolant flow is ducted around the second outlet duct to cool the recycled gasses and to prevent the valve from overheating.
