<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector by which wires safely and quickly can be branched, without peeling a trunk cable and a branch cable of insulating coverings. SOLUTION: A branch connector is consists of a contact 1, made from a metal plate with high conductivity and a main body 2 which is made of synthetic resin having high insulating performance. The contact 1 has a sidewise cross-section of an inverted-U shape. Notches 11 and 11', which cut through the respective insulation coverings of a trunk cable and a branch cable and are brought into contact with their conductors, are formed in the two parallel pieces 1a and 1b of the contact 1 with a predetermined interval D. The main body 2 is provided with two main body half constituent units 2a and 2b which can be mated with each other and which have respectively two parallel grooves 21 and 22, through which the trunk cable and the branch cable are inserted with predetermined separating intervals E. An insertion hole 23, into which the contact 1 is to be inserted is provided in the one main body half structural unit 2a and an insulating cover unit 26, which covers the top surface of the main body half structural unit 2a into which the contact 1 has been inserted, is provided.</p> |
