The massage apparatus comprises an electromechanical vibrator (11) formed with an electric motor (12) coupled to a pair of weights to define two cylindrical seatings within which the weights are turned by the rotation of the motor rotor (27). A pair of protective caps (20,22) are mounted coaxially around the ends of the shaft (18A, 18B). An insulating resin based envelope (32) is molded directly without play on to the outside of the motor and cap assembly, forming a sealed shell and enabling maximum transmission of mechanical vibrations through a working surface (36) of the envelope. An external circuit (42) allows adjustment of the frequency of vibrations transmitted by the vibrator by means of a microprocessor controller.
