DIRECTORY ACCESS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always secure consistency in directory information by bidirectionally moving a non-transaction or transaction between both phases corresponding to processing contents or the like at a client. SOLUTION: A directory server 1 and a client 2 are connected by a network 10. A data base(DB) 6 for storing and managing directory information is connected to the directory server 1. The directory server 1 has a non-transaction processing part 5 for processing respective access requests as different transactions. A transaction processing part 9 processes series of access requests as a single transaction. A phase managing table 7 stores a processing phase for each connection with the client. Based on the stored processing phase, a phase managing part 8 delivers the accepted access request to the non- transaction processing part 5 or transaction processing part 9.
