PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to load indexes of character units according to usable memory capacity, by performing a loading process for the memory so that layers to be loaded in the memory are made changeable with index words and made more fro an index words having more nodes to be branched. SOLUTION: An index generation part 1 has a function for generating an index. A loading implementation part 2 has a function for loading to the memory 5 so that layers to be loaded in the memory 5 are made changeable with index words among index words in an index 4 and made more for an index word having more nodes branching off from higher layers to lower layers. An index process part 3 has a function for retrieval using the memory 5 and index file 4. A document retrieval control part 10 has its function constituted by a program or the like executed by the processor of a computer. The index file 4 is a file storing the multilayer head index 41 of a magnetic disk drive or the like and an index item table 42. |
