PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a device that contributes to early find a disease by forming a lightness image based on color image pickup information obtained from a solid-state image pickup device and applying emphasis to the lightness image and displaying the result so as to observe a delicate shape change of the structure. SOLUTION: An image of an inner wall of a stomach is diagnosed by using a standard video signal, and in the case to diagnose more accurately the structure of the stomach wall, the operator depresses a freeze switch on a control console 13 to locate a processing image. Based on the operation input of the operator succeedingly, an RGB image is converted into a lightness image. Moreover, when emphasis of the structure is commanded to an image processing unit based on the operation input, a band-pass filtering is applied to the lightness image and the result is once stored in an image memory 14 and converted into an analog signal at a D/A converter 15 and displayed a black/white contrast image on a display device 16 to allow the operator to observe more in details than in a color image. |
