PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To set a filter coefficient in a short time by selecting a filter coefficient of a√f equalizing means when optionally fixing a filter coefficient of a bridge tap equalizing means, selecting the filter coefficient of the bridge tap equalizing means when fixing the filter coefficient of the√f equalizing means to the selected filter coefficient and selecting a set of optimum filter coefficients for transmission path equalization. SOLUTION: This method fixes a filter coefficient of a BT equalizer 2 with a characteristic 1, measures the power of the equalizer 2 which is obtained when filter coefficients of a√f equalizer 1 are sequentially switched from the characteristic 1 to a characteristic 10 and are set and stores measurement results in memory 6. The filter coefficient of when power that approximates power which is preliminarily defined most among acquired measurement results is outputted is an optimum value (characteristic 6 here) to the equalizer 1, and it is used as a fixed value in a 2nd stage. In a 2nd step, the filter coefficient of the equalizer 1 is fixed to the optimum value that is acquired in the 1st stage and is processed.
