PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a proper light emission amount of an auxiliary light source independently of a sensitivity band of a solid-state image pickup element and a time constant of a light receiving element and to attain miniaturization and to reduce the cost by detecting luminous quantity information of a photographing signal from the solid- state image pickup element and calculating a difference between the detected luminous quantity information and reference luminous quantity information so as to generate the luminous quantity information. SOLUTION: A control IC 35 separates image data from an A/D converter circuit into a luminance signal and a color difference signal and provides an output of them to a memory controller 36 and a camera CPU 37. The camera CPU 37 generates luminous quantity information based on the luminance signal and the color difference signal and compares the luminous quantity information with reference luminous quantity information from a CPU 48 to generate light emission amount information. Upon the receipt of a light emission instruction from the CPU 48, a light emission section 60 emits light. Thus, an image is photographed by generating the light emission amount information so that the light emission section 60 is lighted by a proper light emission amount in response to the lightness of the light received by a CCD imager 31. |
