PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly reliable aluminum electrolytic capacitor which can be improved easily for preventing the leaking out of its electrolyte under a high-temperature high-humidity condition, without the use of special butyl rubber sealing member and for preventing the occurrence of short circuits due to the melting and re-deposition of copper existing on the surface of aluminum foil for cathode. SOLUTION: In a aluminum electrolytic capacitor, the bulk copper content of aluminum foil for cathode constituting a capacitor element 3 is adjusted to <0.03% and the corrosion current in the electrolyte, when the whole of part of the aluminum foil for cathode is used as an anode and the whole or part of the section which is in contact with the electrolyte of a leader line 2 connected to the aluminum foil for cathode is used as a cathode is adjusted to <=0.01μA.
