PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable analysis of silver with high sensitivity even when a silver concentration of a sample aqueous solution is low, by carrying out the analysis with adding a specific quantity of palladium salt to the sample aqueous solution introduced to a graphite furnace. SOLUTION: Adding palladium salt to a sample aqueous solution is effective to enhance analysis sensitivity in a method for analyzing silver in a graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometer. For instance, a graph showing a relationship of addition quantities and absorbances when palladium, calcium, nickel are added by 10-8000 times a silver concentration to 10μl of a silver aqueous solution of 200 ppb concentration makes it clear that the addition of palladium exerts superior effect. The palladium salt is preferably one that is water-soluble and decomposed with heat at not higher than a temperature whereat silver is turned to atoms, e.g. palladium chloride, palladium sulfate, palladium nitrate, palladium cyanide, etc. An addition quantity of the palladium salt is preferably 100-2000 ppb in terms of palladium.
