The instrument comprises analog or digital displays, a system carrier, on which the displays are directly or indirectly mounted, and cold-cathode lamps (11a,b) for illuminating or backlighting the displays. The cold-cathode lamps are contacted electrically on the rear side of the system carrier. A front plate is arranged on a side facing the viewer. Heating conductors (20) are arranged between the system carrier and the cold-cathode lamps in a meandering fashion.
