Shaft seal component for steam turbine machine

The shaft seal component (1) is made of cast metal with a fluid line system (4,4a) between its inner and outer walls (2,3), having a line segment (5,6) which is made of a different metal. The latter line segment extends partially in the peripheral direction, with at least one opening, e.g. a slit, for communication with the inside wall (2) and/or the outside wall (3) of the component. The component may be made of cast iron with the line segment made of steel.
