Vibration damper system for use with motor vehicle trailers

The system determines torsional vibrations about the moving instantaneous centre of rotation, which in a simple trailer with rigid drawbar, coincides with the center of the trailer coupling ball. The system generates a torque and applies it to the trailer, which is proportional to the angular speed of the trailer and its mass moment of inertia, and acts opposite to the movement direction of the trailer. During reversing, information about steering wheel angle and turning speed of traction vehicle are supplied to a computer, which sets the desired angle between traction vehicle and trailer.
