A lithium secondary battery which is improved in charging-discharging cycle characteristic and output, comprising a spiral electrode body formed by spirally winding a positive electrode plate formed by forming a positive electrode active material on both surfaces of a belt-like positive electrode current collecting body and a negative electrode plate formed by forming a negative electrode active material on both surfaces of a belt-like negative electrode current collecting body with a belt-like separator in between, wherein a plurality of positive electrode current collecting tabs (1d) are fixed to the positive electrode plates at intervals in the lengthwise direction of the plate and a plurality of negative electrode current collecting tabs (2d) are fixed to the negative electrode plate at intervals in the lengthwise direction of the plate. In addition, the current collecting tabs (1d and 2d) are faced oppositely to each other with the separator in between in the state where the positive and negative electrode plates are wound with the separator in between.
