Organometallic compounds are prepared from organic halides by mixing with magnesium alloys of calcium, barium, bismuth, antimony, aluminium, zinc, silicon, maganese and/or rare earths in a reactor with mechanical loading to carry out an activation and/or comminution of the alloy and enable an increase in the reaction rate and/or selectivity.
