The profile (1) comprises anisotropic materials or structural elements (12,13) which are incorporated to obtain locally required profiles, and linear or torsional actuators to distribute forces evenly across the profile, or to direct forces into the elements. The elements, which can be eg. box sections with helical windings (14,15) oriented to cause change of curvature of the chord (4) under load so that radial tension causes torsional deflection in rotor blades.
