A method for screening heat shock protein (HSP) expression induction regulators such as HSP expression induction inhibitors, HSP expression inducers and HSP expression potentiators, which involves the step of using a cell line transformed by a vector comprising a reporter gene ligated to the downstream of an HSP gene promoter to examine the expression of the reporter gene product in the presence of a test compound; the HSP expression induction inhibitors, HSP expression inducers and HSP expression potentiators which can be screened by the above method; and medicinal compositions containing these HSP expression induction inhibitors, HSP expression inducers or HSP expression potentiators.
