Compounds which are highly potent and highly specific beta 3-Adrenoreceptor agonists are provided. The compounds are formulated into pharmaceutical compositions and administered to animals, particularly humans and other mammals for stimulating, regulating and modulating metabolism of fats in adipose tissues in animals, particularly humans and other mammals. The compounds are: (Structura A) and (Structure B) wherein: R1 and R3 are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br, I, OCH3, CF3 and CH3, alkyl and aryl alkyl; R2 is a member selected from the group consisting of H, I, NH2, NHR13, NHCOR13, NHCONHR13 and NHCOSR13; R4 and R5 are each members independently selected from the group consisting of H, OH, F, Cl, Br and I; R6 and R7 are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, F, Cl, Br and I; R8 and R13 are members selected from the group consisting of H, lower alkyl and aryl alkyl of from 1 to about 8 carbons, F, Cl, Br, I, OCH3, and CF3; wherein R<9> and R<10> are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, lower straight chain and branched alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, (a), (b), (c), and where R11 and R12 are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, lower straight chain and branched alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and wherein R1 and R2, taken together, R2 and R3, taken together and R4 and R5, taken together may additionally form a member selected from the group consisting of moieties having structure (I) wherein R13 and R14 are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, lower straight chain and branched alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, (a), (b), (c), and where R11 and R12 are independently members selected from the group consisting of H, lower straight chain and branched alkyl of from 1 to 8 carbon atoms, and the simple inorganic and lower alkyl, of from 1 to about 8 carbons, carboxyllic acid salts thereof. The compounds are formulated into pharmaceutical carriers to serve as highly selective, effective and safe beta 3-Adrenoreceptor agonists to provide long term weight control in animals, particularly humans and other mammals.
