A food product consists of a substantially ready-cooked hollow part (2) with a wall at least 5, preferably 10 to 15 mm thick which encloses a cavity (4) which is large enough to receive a substantially ready-cooked filling (3). The product is in particular preserved by being in air-tight packing and/or deep-frozen. At least the outer surface of the hollow part (2) may be coated with an edible reinforcing layer (8), in particular bread-crumbs or dough. Both parts may be made of pressed potato pieces, rice and/or dough, or minced meat, fish, mushrooms and/or vegetables, if required mixed with a binder. The filling (3) is for example a sauce optionally bound to form a jelly or sweetened. |
